State Rep. Isaac Latterell seeking input for legislative resolution on items including term limits.

State Representative Latterell is seeking input on state legislation to rein in the federal government through the direct amendment process.

Looking specifically at the term limits issue; While the state has tried limiting term limits of South Dakota’s federally elected officeholders on its own, it was determined not to apply, with the state paying the price ever since by limiting state Representatives and Senators.

I suspect such a measure would sail through the South Dakota legislature, the question is whether or not it would pass in other states.

According to US Term Limits, only 15 states have passed them for themselves, which would mean you have a lot of states to convince who have made the decision to pass on the issue.
